Director Digital and Media Analytics
Position Summary
The Director of Digital and Media Analytics plays a critical role in the organization’s ongoing transformation to a digital first and customer centric approach to marketing, sales and merchandising efforts. He/she is responsible for defining the organization’s digital analytics roadmap, understanding the digital journey of customers, and leading analytic efforts to measure and optimize marketing and media effectiveness. He/she has a deep background with digital marketing, advanced analytics/data science and activating digital behavior insights to support the design and deployment of customer centric engagement strategies. This highly visible position requires an individual with strong leadership skills and the ability consult with, partner with and influence senior business leaders within the organization.
The company is focused on growth and this position is part of the plan to to support the new integrated media department which is focused on buying and using the right media based on the business objectives. We are trying to link the media with the customer behavior to create more effective communications across the customer journey.
Location
The Director of Digital & Media Analytics will be located at our client’s headquarters office in the Boston MA area.
Key Responsibilities
This role will report to the Senior Director, Customer Analytics and will:
- Set the vision for the organization’s digital analytics roadmap.
- Lead digital marketing analytics initiatives, including funnel optimization and attribution modeling.
- Understand key objectives and challenges of the business and determine appropriate analytical approaches.
- Lead the development of integrated measurement and optimization frameworks across all digital and offline marketing programs.
- Partner with internal media teams and external media partners to provide deep insight into media effectiveness across key customer segments.
- Enhance the utility of our Multi Touch Attribution and Media Mix Modeling solutions and synthesize insights extracted from the solutions.
- Lead the development of advanced analytic solutions to provide deep insight to various business units, then work to ensure utilization and adoption by these business units.
- Ensure ongoing internal client analytic needs are met and delivered on time/on budget.
- Present results and recommendations to internal clients and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Stay up to date on analytics industry trends to inform ongoing changes and enhancements.
- Influence internal business partners across Marketing, Sales and Merchandising, including at senior levels of the organization.
- Exchange information with internal partners including IT, Sales, Sales Operations, Marketing, Merchandising and Finance. Negotiate with third parties such as data vendors.
- Manage a team of analytics staff. Make hiring decisions, provide active management, mentoring and career development, and promote best practices and operational excellence across the team.
- Conduct full performance appraisals and coaching for direct reports. Review and approve pay actions for indirect reports.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience B.S./B.A. degree in Business, Marketing or Statistics. M.S. or MBA degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in digital marketing and digital analytics
- 10+ years of experience of leadership experience for an Analytics function in a B2B firm, marketing professional services company, or leading consulting firm
- 10+ years of in direct marketing, marketing services and/or consulting
Professional Knowledge/Experience
- Deep knowledge of the digital marketing landscape, as well as measurement and optimization frameworks within this landscape.
- Expert level knowledge of predictive modeling and analytics and their practical applications in digital media campaigns, including multi-variate test design and contact optimization.
- Ability to build, manage and motivate a team of analytics professionals.
- Deep knowledge of tag management for robust web analytics capabilities.
- Data Science / Big data proficiency with tools such as Omniture, Google Analytics, Hadoop, Hive, etc.
- Ability to develop project plans and manage strategic projects across internal teams and clients; motivate people to action.
- Ability to build trust with senior business leaders.
- Passion and energy for innovation and out of the box solutions.
- Exceptional presentation skills. Able to articulate complex insights and interpretations in high level terms to non-technical colleagues.
